7 Ways to Get a Brighter Smile Before Your Big Day

Discover, manage, and track all of your vendor communication, contracts, and timelines in one place.
Everyone wants to look his or her best on the big day, and that includes having white teeth. After all, you're going to be smiling from ear to ear and you want those babies to shine bright. Whether you're looking for a drugstore buy to create a dazzling smile or an organic option for those pearly whites, here are seven ways to get a stunning smile before your wedding day.
1. Buy a whitening toothpaste or whitening strips.
This method is easy to use and doesn't require much time. Purchase strips or toothpaste at your local drugstore (strips cost around $30 and toothpaste around $4) and use for the months leading up to the "I dos." Just remember to read the directions and purchase an item that is American Dental Association (ADA) approved.
2. Try oil pulling.
Clean and whiten teeth with the coconut oil you have at home. Grab about a tablespoon of oil and swish in your mouth for twenty minutes. After your time is up, spit the oil out and rinse your mouth with water. This ancient trick removes toxins from your gums and reduces bacteria and plaque in your mouth. Try daily use for the best results.
3. Use hydrogen peroxide.
This method is for the budget-friendly bride. Buy a 3% solution of hydrogen peroxide and swish about two tablespoons of the antiseptic in your mouth. Be careful not to swallow any of the liquid as it will burn. After the solution starts to foam in your mouth, you can spit it out and rinse with water. Brush your teeth as you normally would.
4. Make an appointment for professional whitening.
Some dentists offer whitening treatments that are far more powerful than over-the-counter options. Find a reputable whitener and make an appointment. 5. Test a dab of baking soda. Try brushing your teeth once or twice a week with baking soda. Dip your brush in the soda so all of the bristles are covered and brush your teeth as usual. Rinse thoroughly and use mouthwash if you need to get rid of the aftertaste.
6. Avoid drinks that will stain.
Coffee, red wine, soda, and dark juices all cause discoloration. Either avoid the drinks altogether or drink with a straw to minimize the contact with your teeth.
7. Maintain dental health.
Your whitening efforts will be a waste if you don't maintain good oral health. Brush your teeth twice a day, floss, and attend biannual dentist checkups.
