4 Things You Should Still Steal from Mary-Kate Olsen's Wedding
02 Mar 2016 •1 min read
Just a few weeks ago, our Full House- fave-turned-total-fashionista, Mary-Kate Olsen, married long-time financier boyfriend, Olivier Sarkozy. And while many had nothing but good wishes for the happy couple, the media had a whole lot to say about their big day decor, after Page Six reported that the couple decked out the venue with "bowls and bowls filled with cigarettes, and everyone smoked the whole night." Well, now that the smoke has cleared, we're looking past the controversy and looking at four things that Mary-Kate and Olivier definitely did right (and that we kinda wanna copy...).
1. A low-key but cool venue.
In true New York fashion, the couple tied the knot at a private residence on 49th Street in Manhattan. We bet that was one gorgeous view!
2. Cocktails in the garden.
For the cocktail hour, Mary-Kate and Olivier invited guests to sip their drinks in a beautiful outdoor garden behind the private residence. A garden party is perfect for your nearest and dearest.
3. An unplugged affair.
For both the ceremony and reception, the newlyweds requested that all guests turn off their cell phones and refrain from taking photos. While the celebs likely had security and privacy in mind, we're totally on board with a technology-free event (A-list status or not).
4. The small guest list.
We don't know the exact number of guests in attendance, but it's clear that the couple kept their wedding small. This is definitely something to consider if you want to keep costs down, heighten the cozy feel, and make the evening extra special for the friends and family that are in attendance.
