Swept Away in Style: Inside Katie Austin's Stunning Wedding Celebration

Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model Katie Austin tied the knot with Lane Armstrong in the Austin family estate in La Quinta, California, on May 4, surrounded by 230 guests in an "Italian meets modern Palm Springs" ceremony!

The family's six acre estate was such a special detail for the couple, as Katie had spent many holidays there since childhood, and it was where they had a pivotal second date and spent much of 2020 together after meeting on The League dating app.

"I have been coming to La Quinta ever since I was little for every holiday,' Katie told PEOPLE. 'And Lane and I had our second date at this house and spent most of 2020 here, so it's a special place for us as we built the foundation of our relationship here."

The "on campus" wedding theme was perfect for their guests, who stayed nearby at the La Quinta Resort for the wedding weekend.

"We really loved the idea of having an "on campus" wedding with no travel once arriving," she added. 

The wedding festivities began with a rehearsal dinner where Katie wore the 1983 wedding dress her mother Denise Austin wore for her own nuptials. Katie tailored into a mini dress, creating a sentimental moment.

Katie Austin shared her big day in an Instagram post with the caption:

“41 years ago to this exact week, my mom walked down the aisle and married my dad in this dress,” Austin shared in her caption. “My mom and my sister encouraged and approved me to make it into a mini dress, still lined with the lace of my moms train. It was such a special detail to incorporate into the wedding weekend, symbolizing a strong healthy marriage my parents have🤍💍💫 love you always @deniseaustin.”

"It was so special ... and a full-circle moment we won't ever forget," she noted.

The next day, a vibrant welcome party hosted by Katie's parents featured bright colors and festive food, setting a lively tone for the weekend! The wedding day was filled with classic white florals, chandeliers, and a black-and-white color palette.

"From going to all these weddings, we learned the most important thing is the energy the bride and groom bring," the fitness influencer and model told PEOPLE.

"We envisioned a ton of dancing, amazing lighting, good food and stunning decor of course, but the most important thing was to create the loving and magical energy. We wanted our celebration to be filled with joy, not only from us, but everyone attending."

Their ceremony featured personal touches like harp music and handwritten vows, with Taylor Swift's "You Are in Love" accompanying Katie down the aisle, wearing a Dana Harel lace gown with a nude silhouette underlining, paired with Jimmy Choo shoes.

Katie changed into a Chosen by Kyha dress for the reception and, later, a handmade Patbo embroidered minidress for the afterparty.

Throughout the event, they added personal touches like handwritten notes for each guest and a personalized wedding cake.

The celebration continued with dancing to a live band and special moments like their first dance to "You Are the Best Thing."

Katie also told PEOPLE that she and Lane were planning an island-hopping honeymoon trip. The newlyweds plan to travel to Cap Juluca in Anguilla, Eden Roc, then Cheval Blanc in St. Barths. After the trip, it's back to work for Katie as she will be preparing for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit launch.
