Just in case you missed it, Chinese actress, singer, and model Angela Yeung (also known as “Angelababy”) and her beau, actor Huang Xiaoming, tied the knot in Shanghai on October 8th. And the internet went wild over the wedding's price tag... A whopping $31 million dollars. The celeb, who is dubbed "the Kim Kardashian of China," spent more than 3 times what Kim and Kanye spent on their wedding (remember, theirs cost $12 million), coming second only to the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton, which cost $34 million dollars, according to Forbes. So, what does a $31 million dollar wedding budget get you? Lets start with the ring. Angela's engagement ring is valued at $1.5 million dollars alone. The ring, designed by Parisian designer Chaumet, features a five-carat pear-shaped diamond with another half a carat of diamonds around it.
For their engagement photos, Angela and husband Huang headed to Paris for a big-budget photoshoot. For the shoot alone, Angela rocked multiple Elie Saab couture dresses.
The wedding dress, which was crafted out of 115 feet of ivory satin organza and 165 feet of tulle, took over five months to create. According to Forbes, the custom Dior gown featured a 10-foot-long train and nearly a hundred hand-cut rose bouquets made of Chantilly lace.
The venue, the Shanghai Exhibition Center, was covered floor to ceiling in roses for the ceremony and reception. And if the 2,000 guests in attendance weren't enough, the couple live-streamed their ceremony, so people all around the world could watch.
At the reception, Angela and Huang had a 10-foot-tall cake modeled after a carousel that reportedly took a month to assemble, according to Refinery 29. There was also a holographic castle, and lavish swag bags that included stain glass window lights and cell phones.
Now that's what we'd call an over the top soiree.
