There's a phrase in Japanese culture called "Ichigo Ichie" that I feel best sums up the way I view life and approach every wedding I film. Ichigo Ichie has been translated as "for this time only" and "once in a lifetime." The term reminds people to cherish any gathering that they may take part in, citing the fact that any moment in life cannot be repeated; even when the same group of people get together in the same place again, a particular gathering will never be replicated, and thus each moment is always a once-in-a-lifetime experience. What you and I will create together will be one-of-a-kind because of this belief, Ichigo Ichie. Your wedding will be unique and beautiful because it will be a completely new experience for me and I will view it as such. It's a good reminder to stay present to what's in front of me + pay attention to the beauty all around me. It's a good reminder for you as well. It's a reminder to let go and trust your team of vendors to take care of you so you can be present to this once in a lifetime moment that cannot be replicated.
