The Story
Michael and Colleen met at UAB while completing her NP and finishing up his residency. Michael proposed to Colleen on a low-key summer day. They went for a walk, played tennis, and they were just hanging out at home. Michael all of a sudden made an excuse to go upstairs. Colleen had recently lost a ring of hers. Michael came back downstairs with a ring box in his hands which he said contained a replacement for the ring she had lost. Colleen opened it to find an engagement ring! Michael explained that the house they had built together was his favorite place and he didn’t want to wait any longer to propose. The bridal party got ready at the Redmont Hotel and also did the first looks there. From the Redmont we headed to St. Francis for the ceremony. Colleen looked radiant in her Heidi Elnora gown as she floated down the aisle. She and Michael exited the church amid a rain of bright silver shakers before heading off for some intimate couples portraits at The Club. The highlight of the evening was by far the Maid of Honor’s toast. Colleen’s sister ended it by singing “Sisters” from the movie White Christmas (a family tradition the two sisters share), complete with a blue fan and just a little dancing. This was the perfect touch to an already beautiful evening. Congrats to the new Mr. and Mrs. Gibson!
