A Romantic Summer Wedding on a Yacht

Kristi and James's wedding ceremony was held on a vintage yacht in Palos Verdes, California, casting its anchor where the bride used to swim in the ocean with her father as a child. To follow, their Mediterranean-inspired reception was held in her parents’ backyard with beautiful views overlooking the Pacific Ocean. “My flower bouquet was incredibly special to me. My cousin Laura (also my florist) grew Matilija white poppies in her backyard because I love them so much but they're difficult to get. She worked so hard to create something beautiful and meaningful for me. My maternal grandparents immigrated from Komiza, Croatia, and planted fig tree clippings from the island where they were born. On the day before my wedding, my aunt climbed what is now a massive fig tree, and cut down several branches and leaves so that I could incorporate them into my bouquet. Holding those figs close to my heart was my way of carrying my grandfather in the ceremony with me. She also tied a special Komizke handkerchief from my grandmother around my bouquet to make it extra special,” shares the bride.
