A Romantic Summer Wedding at Lowndes Grove

When selecting details, Ally and Alex wanted things to be timeless but unique and personal to them. They stuck with neutrals that allowed the natural beauty of the property to pop. If Ally had to describe the look and feel, she would call it a neutral romantic with bohemian touches. They strayed from tradition when it came time to start the ceremony and Ally surprised Alex by having Palmetto Strings play Country Roads by John Denver as she walked down the aisle. Ally's entire life, her grandfather has started each meal by toasting, “Santé” which means, “to your health” in French. It did not matter if it was breakfast, lunch, or dinner - they did not eat until he said Santé. As they planned through a pandemic, health was at the forefront of everyone's mind and as their wedding day approached, vaccines were becoming more widely available. After a year of seeming to only talk about health – it only seemed fitting that Santé was featured in the neon hanging prominently above the outdoor reception bar. And like every other meal, Ally's grandfather’s welcome speech to kick off our reception included Santé as all their guests raised a glass. Ally's grandfather was not the only one who had an impact on their day. Rather than have a seating chart made, she pulled several white vases from their home and had a local calligrapher write guests' seating assignments on them. The vases are now back where they belong in their home but if you look at just the right angle, you might catch their guests’ names and table numbers on the back. The team at Ooh Events custom sourced tassel chandeliers to help bring the dance floor installation vision to life. During the peak of the reception, Charleston Sweet Grass fans were passed out on the dance floor. The fans provided guests with some relief from the heat and a beautiful Charleston souvenir to take home.
