A Classic Summer Wedding at Kennebunk River Club

Kennebunkport, Maine, United States
Grace, a member of the Walker Bush family, spent summers visiting her cousins at Walkers Point, the Kennebunkport retreat that has been in the family for generations. Her deep ties to the area were reflected throughout the wedding weekend. Inspired by childhood summers on the water in New England, Grace and Greyson planned a classic coastal wedding in Kennebunkport, Maine. The ceremony took place at a seaside church just minutes from the Kennebunk River Club, where Grace’s parents are members and the reception was held. It was a particularly meaningful setting because Grace’s parents were married in the same church and celebrated at the River Club in 1995. The couple added thoughtful personal touches for guests. Greyson and his groomsmen wore needlepoint belts, hand stitched by the mothers of both the bride and groom in the months leading up to the wedding. They also featured a beer boat stocked with IPAs from Whalers Brewing Company, a Rhode Island favorite of Greyson’s. A custom crest designed for the occasion appeared on invitations and table numbers, incorporating blueberries as a nod to Maine along with blue hydrangeas and blue lobsters. To kick off the reception, Grace and Greyson made a grand entrance to cocktail hour on Grace’s family’s boat, driven by her father, embracing the coastal spirit of the day.
