A Classic Spring Wedding at The Biltmore Ballroom

Chris J Evans · Atlanta, GA

The Story

Choosing the classically beautiful, wonderfully ornate (and pastel) Biltmore Ballrooms in Midtown Atlanta seems like an obvious choice in retrospect but it was actually a somewhat sudden shuffle after our totally different, nature oriented, first choice fell through. Ultimately, we wound up with a much more magical space in the Biltmore Ballrooms that felt perfect for us specifically. Decorating was phenomenally easy, as all that was needed to was to capture, reflect, and compliment the already gorgeous pastel palette and ornate plaster reliefs. And too, almost unbelievably, our reception outfits (that we had selected months before deciding upon the Biltmore Ballrooms) matched the reception’s ballroom oh so specific shade of delicate seafoam! It was perfect but it wasn’t planned. Everything about the venue was so picturesque. Speaking of photos - we ended up choosing a fabulous photographer who specializes in destination weddings. This was, to us, hilarious though, because our wedding was anything but: one other reason the Biltmore was so perfect for us particularly was that it is 3 very walkable blocks from our house. The hotel we chose for our guests was similarly close, being just across the street from the venue and north one block. One of our favorite aspects of our wedding was the continuity of it all. The co-location of all of the morning and afternoon events as well as lodging meant that the party truly didn’t stop - unless you wanted a nap! - which was also just a few steps away and back. Although we are still so happy with our choices to put ourselves in ten middle of everything the whole wedding weekend, our favorite part of the wedding day was simply the first look moment in the morning of the wedding, before the baraat. All the tiredness vanished and tedium of getting up and getting dressed in funerary seemed so completely worth it when we saw each other. “After all this planning, this is really happening” - we had finally arrived at the day and to have a few moments to revel in that realization just the two of us in the sunlight filtered through the tall old trees in the courtyard was divine. It was just the beginning of the day but that was the moment, hand in hand, we felt we truly arrived at our destination.
