Saturday weddings in the spring aren't exactly a novel concept, but tomorrow is an extra special day for couples to tie the knot. Why? Because it's March 14th, which has lovingly become known as Pi Day by math lovers everywhere. But THIS year, mathematicians are referring to the date as "Super" or "Ultimate" Pi Day because the date (3.14.15) matches the first five decimal points of pi (3.1415). So here's why a lot of couples felt this was the perfect weekend to say their "I dos."
It's a Saturday. Saturdays are the most popular day of the week for weddings anyway, so selecting Pi Day for your big day was an easy option this year. Okay, yes. Some couples may have picked tomorrow for their wedding date without knowing its mathematical ties, but it's cool to know that this March 14 has some extra special meaning behind it. It's a once-in-a-century chance. Sure, there's a Pi Day every year when March 14 rolls around on the calendar. But this year is even more special because 2015 completes the first five digits of the infinitely long number. This won't happen again for another hundred years! If you're really dedicated to the numbers game, consider saying your vows at 9:26 for a once in a lifetime experience of tying the knot when the first 10 digits of pi are represented. For math fanatics, it's an easy date to remember. Granted, if you’re not super into numbers, 3/14/15 isn't much easier to keep in your head than any other date. But if you aced geometry, then the number is basically ingrained in your mind. That means you and your partner will never have an excuse if you forget your anniversary! It's a win-win, really. It's an opportunity to work in a fun theme. For those who want a math-centric wedding, it's as easy as, well, pie. The theme is basically built into your wedding day. Lots of couples are getting creative with the ways they're incorporating Super Pi Day into their wedding, from fun websites to cute pie favors. It's a great reason to serve pie. As if anyone needs an excuse to eat some delicious dessert, Ultimate Pi Day basically begs for pie to be served at the end of the night. Whether you go for the classics like apple and pecan or more creative versions like pie pops or whoopie pies, there are lots of amazing options for the dessert table. Another possibility? Pizza pies for dinner! If you're realizing that tomorrow would have been the perfect day for your nuptials, it's not too late to make it happen! You can still make it official at City Hall or by eloping. via Lover.ly Photo by Katie Stoops Photography on The Brides Cafe via Lover.ly Bring some pie into your big day with some tasty inspiration on Lover.ly!
