10 Celebrities Who Had Secret Weddings

Today "Gilmore Girls" star Alexis Bledel and "Mad Men" actor Vincent Kartheiser confirmed they were married in secret earlier this summer, carrying on the tradition of famous people tying the knot without the public knowing. Because for every over-the-top celebrity wedding we anticipate for weeks (coughKimyecough), there is a celeb couple who dashed off to the courthouse or jetted off to Tulum for a surprise ceremony. Read on for 10 other celebs who had secret weddings. 

1. Kelly Clarkson. According to People, Clarkson married her love Brandon Blackstock in a secret ceremony at Blackberry Farm in Tennessee. (And her lace Temperley gown was to die for.) 

2. Leighton Meester. Yep, Blair Waldorf married Seth Cohen...totally on the sly. According to US Weekly, Meester married Adam Brody in Feb. 2014 but has remained totally tight-lipped on the details. 

3. Olivia Palermo. As we reported in June, Palermo surprised everyone with a secret but lovely-sounding wedding in a park in Bedford, NY. 

4. Kristen Bell. Bell and Dax Shephard -- who waited to marry until gay marriage was legalized in California -- were married in a super low-key ceremony at the Beverly Hills County Clerk's office. And we know their love is real, because he gave her a sloth. 

5. Jennifer Love Hewitt. E! reported that the actress married hubby Brian Hallisay just five days before she gave birth to their daughter. Bridal baby bumps FTW! 

6. Blake Lively. We were slightly crushed when we found out Ryan Reynolds was no longer on the market...but Lively seems like a pretty good catch, so we'll allow it. The couple's wedding was featured in Martha Stewart Weddings last year, but pictures of them on their wedding day are about as elusive as the chupacabra. (Though presumably much more attractive.) 

7. Zoe Saldana. The actress (who just announced she's pregnant!) recently told E! that she and Marco Perego planned their secret wedding in just three weeks. 

8. Naya Rivera. We shared details of Rivera's nuptials in July. Like a lot of people, we didn't even know she and now-husband Ryan Dorsey were engaged! 

9. Mariah Carey. The singer wed Nick Cannon in 2008 in a secret ceremony; the couple has since had some fab anniversary celebrations. (Their twins were actually born on their third anniversary!) 

10. Britney Spears. Brit-Brit actually had two secret weddings...um, in the same year. In January 2004, she married childhood friend Jason Allen Alexander in Vegas; the marriage lasted 55 hours. In September 2004, she married backup dancer Kevin Federline in a secret ceremony in California.
