Your hair

Your hair is a really important consideration when you’re planning what jewelry you’re going to be wearing. If you choose your earrings first, make sure you’re comfortable with a hairstyle that allows them to be shown off. If you are set on your hairstyle, make sure you’re choosing earrings that won’t get lost in it.

The neckline of your dress

 If you’re thinking about wearing a necklace, consider the neckline of your dress. Will a longer pendant compliment it well? Or would a shorter choker be better? If your dress is a halterneck, you may want to forgo the necklace entirely so that it doesn’t get lost under the fabric. You want these pieces to work together, not fight each other!

The sleeves of your dress

With a sleeveless dress, you can stack on all the bangles you want! However, if you’ll be wearing long sleeves it may be more practical to stick with a closer-fitting bracelet or a simple watch so that the fabric doesn’t snag. Your final wedding look should be about balance, with each piece contributing something unique and complimentary.

 It may seem silly, but jewelry can get in the way when you’re moving and grooving! Make sure you’re picking things that aren’t too heavy and that aren’t going to end up annoying you. This doesn’t mean that your jewelry has to be simple, but it does mean you should be thinking about functionality.

Jewelry can be a great way to unify a group’s looks with common elements. Whether you’re borrowing family pieces as your “something old” or giving out a special something to your maid of honor that they can wear on the day, jewelry is a really special way of demonstrating care and connection to the people in your life who got you to the altar.
