Earth-Toned Romance in the Quinault Rainforest

The Cardinals · Port Angeles, WA

The Story

Seven years after meeting as engineering students at Oregon State University, Justine and Calder celebrated their "comfortable love" with an intimate elopement in the Quinault Rainforest. Following a heartfelt proposal in a remote A-frame cabin, the couple chose a ceremony rooted in nature to simplify their planning during Calder’s medical residency. Surrounded by moss and towering foxgloves, they performed a handfasting ceremony using a cord Justine hand-crafted to symbolize the earth and prosperity. Captured by photographer The Cardinals, the day was filled with personal touches, from family heirloom jewelry to a bridal dress by Marisa Heymann, thoughtfully altered for the forest terrain. After exchanging vows beneath the sun-dappled canopy and sharing wild salmonberries, the couple concluded their celebration with portraits on a windswept beach and celebratory cocktails at their rental cabin.
