Wedding 101

These Women-owned Brands are Rocking the Wedding World

Collect, manage, and organize your wedding guest information for each event and track their preferences.

In honor of the 100th Women’s Equality on August 26, we have gathered five women-owned wedding wear brands to support now and forever. Although the wedding and fashion industries are often associated with women, a 2018 study found that only 14% of major retail brands were women-owned.

It may feel cruelly ironic to celebrate this milestone event in women’s suffrage during an election year that our current Commander in Chief is threatening to postpone, but perhaps going on a shopping spree will help us refocus, refresh, and remember to go out and vote on election day!

Amsale

Founder of Amsale bridal, Amsale Aberra is credited with inventing the modern wedding dress. Amsale ditched the overly dramatic gown style for her own wedding dress, which sparked the simplistic elegance her dresses are known for. Her collections exude understated glamour and feature handcrafted details, exuding modern femininity. While the gowns are on the pricey side, some over $7,000, each dress is simple in style but carries its own unique personality. To take a look at the Amsale collection, check out their website here.

Sahroo

If you are looking for a woman-owned bridal brand that is also environmentally conscious, we recommend you check out Sahroo, whose mission is to reimagine luxury through handcrafted garments made from biodegradable silk and recycled crystals. While Sahroo is in touch with tradition, the brand is perfect for a Gen Z or Millennials looking for a sustainable option on their wedding day. We are totally in love with the Love Collection, particularly the Victoria Crop Top and Slim Trouser which we recommend purchasing ASAP.

Birdy Grey

Let’s not forget about the bridesmaids! Birdy Grey was founded in 2017 by best friends Grace Lee and Monica Ashauer. The company prides itself on designing gowns for bridesmaids made by former, current, and soon-to-be bridesmaids. A huge perk of this brand is that every single dress is $99 and comes in all shapes, sizes, and colors. Take a look through their simple and chic designs to find a look that is right for you! Also, when you are done with your gown and won’t be wearing it again, send back your Birdy Grey garments to donate to the non-profit organization The Princess Project which provides free prom dresses to teens in need.

Baublebar

Time to accessorize! Baublebar is an accessory brand founded by Danielle Yacobsky and Amy Jain. The company reinvents trending styles into affordable jewelry and accessories that are the perfect addition to your wedding day look. They also happen to be selling stylish masks if you are looking for a special face coverage for your big day. Scroll through their most popular styles here!

Pantora

Designer and Founder Andrea Pitter created Pantora as a safe space for women and soon-to-be brides to feel beautiful in luxurious designs that are presented in a relatable and accessible manner. On their website, you can scroll through various bridal collections and photos of real brides wearing the same designs. The most recent 2020 collection is also about the intersection of classic and bold styles; our current favorites are River, Phoenix, and Liberty.

So, first things first: register to vote as the ultimate celebration of Women's Equality Day! Then take a whirl through these websites ;)
