1Ask for recommendations.

Was there a wedding that you or a friend attended that really stood out? Check with the bride and groom to see who they worked with. A resounding endorsement is always worth looking into!

2Look for things you like.

Looking online at some of the more popular wedding websites and blogs can certainly point you in the right direction as well; look for weddings that speak to you in design and overall feel. There are many talented wedding planners out there, so make sure whoever you hire has been in business for at least a few years, has impeccable references, and understands that he/she is helping to plan your dream day.

3Find a planner who will work with you and your fiancé’s schedule and budget.

Finding someone who is flexible in terms of when and where they can meet is important since most couples don’t have the luxury of making wedding planning their full-time job. And it’s important to know that your wedding planner will be mindful of your budget and will work to get you the best deals possible. You don’t want any costly surprises to pop up throughout the process.

4Be sure you and your fiancé connect with the planner.

At the end of the day, you want to feel like you have hired not just a wedding planner, but a friend. You are entrusting this person or company with one of the most important days of your life (and probably the biggest and most expensive party you’ll ever throw), so being comfortable and connecting with him or her is very important.
