17 Oct 2018 •1 min read
Whether you're stocking the bar for an upcoming bash or looking for signature wedding sips, we've got you covered. On Fridays, Loverly will bring you a new drink recipe, perfect for your next soiree. So raise a glass to this week's Loverly Libation.
We love a refreshing glass of sangria on a lazy spring afternoon, but we're ready to detour from the regular old red wine and fruit combo to try something different this season. This cucumber sangria recipe is a modern twist on the classic drink. Crisp white wine, mild cucumber, and sweet honeydew melon give the sangria a clean and earthy taste that's perfect for warm weather events.
Ingredients
1 small honeydew melon, cubed 1 small seedless cucumber, thinly sliced 1 lime, thinly sliced 12 fresh mint leaves 1/4 cup lime juice 1/4 cup honey 1 750 mL bottle Sauvignon blanc or other semi-dry white wine, chilled 1 litter bottled carbonated water, chilled To garnish: fresh mint sprigs
Instructions
1. In a large pitcher, combine melon, cucumber, lime slices, and 12 mint leaves. 2. In a small bowl, stir together lime juice and honey; once combined, pour over the melon mixture. 3. Add wine and stir gently. 4. Cover and chill for at least two hours. 5. Just before serving, add carbonated water. Ladle into glasses and garnish with additional mint leaves. Try serving up this signature cocktail at a sophisticated bridal luncheon or rehearsal dinner...or just pour yourself a glass.
