Six Tips For An Alcohol-free Wedding
02 Jun 2020 •4 min read
Alcohol is everywhere. But not everyone wants that all the time! We know weddings are famous for hosting all sorts of drunken shenanigans, but if you're trying to avoid that possibility, forgoing alcohol at your wedding might be a good option! Whether you're trying to save money or you just don't drink, we've got six tips to ensure everyone has fun— no booze necessary.
1Host your wedding earlier in the day.
Most people who drink do not begin doing so until the classic "5 o'clock somewhere" timeline. The whole bottomless brunch invention has slightly ruined this, but some people still abide by the 5 o'clock guideline! To avoid making guests feel like they're missing something, try hosting your wedding earlier in the day. Because they wouldn't typically be imbibing in alcohol then anyway, they're less likely to miss the suds. It's time for brunch, y'all!

Mocktails can be just as delicious and even more refreshing than alcoholic cocktails. And major bonus... no hangovers. Try coming up with a signature mocktail for your wedding using ingredients that you and your partner love. Guests can still be treated to a fancy beverage in a dainty glass, and they likely won't miss the cocktail at all.
3Serve sugary sweets.
Alcohol is sugar. So why not switch one type of sugar for another? Avoid triggering an alcoholic sweet tooth by keeping some gourmet extras on hand. Aside from wedding cake, stock up on cookies, cupcakes, or other treats. Why not have an entire dessert buffet? Go all out! A dessert spread will look completely adorable and keep guests from craving a sugary cocktail.
4Serve a lot of food.
Another strategy when you remove something from a menu is to replace it with something else. In this case, it just happens to be replacing alcohol with food! With all of the money you're saving on an open bar (or even just beer and wine) you will have more room to spend on the food menu. Yum! Be adventurous, plan a five-course meal, double up on the appetizers, go wild! Your guests will thank you.
5Create a fun photobooth.
Keeping your guests entertained is another surefire way to keep them from missing their usual cocktail. While dancing sometimes requires liquid courage, taking photos with friends in photo booths does not. This is a great option for any wedding, with or without alcohol. But if you're looking for a way to keep your sober guests laughing, this is a solid option! Stock the booth with silly props and signs, and your guests will no doubt be delighted.
6Focus on caffeine.
Lattes are the new cocktails, right? Eh, maybe not exactly. But serving some curated coffee creations are a great way to let your guests appreciate a drinkable treat sans alcohol. Plus if you'd like your party to go all night long, caffeine is your friend! Guests will get their buzz in a healthier (and way less messy) way and will party with you until the wee hours of the morning.
