7 Things They're Looking for in a Partner

Discover, manage, and track all of your vendor communication, contracts, and timelines in one place.
When it comes to spending their rest of their lives with someone, everyone definitely looks for certain characteristics they'd like their future spouses to have. Sure, some people care about certain qualities more than others, and, of course, everyone is different as far as who they're attracted to and who they click with personality-wise. But the following points on our list are by-and-large essentials on most lists. (And, hey, we wouldn't mind someone with these qualities, ourselves.)
Someone they can trust. Trust is the cornerstone of any relationship, marriage especially. A person needs to know they can trust you with their heart, secrets, and fears—life, basically.
Someone who can be themselves around them. When we're young, many of us try on different personalities and personas. We might even play games in relationships to avoid getting our hearts broken. But when a person is ready for marriage, they're looking for a special someone who doesn't apologize for who they really are and can lay it all out with pride.
Someone who's consistent. Being someone's partner means you have to show up, emotionally , mentally, and physically. If they knows they can count on you, they'll want you by their side for life.
Someone who's passionate. Whether it's a passion for a job, a hobby or a cause, being truly committed to something that's important to you is a very attractive quality. Also, having a vest for life is another characteristic everyone appreciates — they want someone who will likewise inspire them.
Someone who's loving. Clearly, all of us want to marry someone who's caring and tender, especially when we're feeling lonely, sad or just not-so-great in general. We're looking for someone who has that soft side or can provide some sweetness when it's needed most. So don't be afraid to let your feelings show.
Someone who doesn't sweat the small stuff. Life has its ups and downs — some are more severe than others. Being able to shrug off the things that are no big deal with grace is a key quality appreciated in someone they're going to commit to forever.
Someone who challenges us to be a better. The right partner will help you grow and be a positive influence in your life. Most of us seek out a life partner who will do just that — someone who will inspire us to want to be the best possible version of ourselves.
