Get to Know the Groom Who Planned a Surprise Pinterest Wedding

By now, you've surely heard about the groom who planned a surprise wedding for his girlfriend based entirely on her Pinterest boards. His name is Ryan Leak, and he and his new wife Amanda are motivational speakers in Dallas, TX. We were dying to hear more about how he planned such an incredible surprise with only her online inspiration boards to help him and to see if he had any tips for creating a sweet surprise for a loved one, so we caught up with him this week to find out!   Photo by Marcus Lewis on Unsplash How long did it take to plan this? It took me about a year and a half to plan everything from start to finish. How did you tell her friends and family? For the most part, I invited most of our guests in person. I tried to keep it close to the chest until just a few months before the wedding. One of my best friends didn't know about it until a month before. Were you ever worried they might spoil the surprise? I was worried every day that anyone could slip and tell her. How did you coordinate getting out-of-town guests in town without her knowing? We live in Dallas and the wedding was in Miami. So that part was easy. How did you manage to talk to/meet with vendors without her knowing? She was working full-time along with a full-time college schedule. I travel and speak for a living...so going to Miami to hang out with friends wasn't exactly out of the ordinary for me. How did you get a look at her inspiration boards? I searched for her name on Pinterest and tried to find the one that was hers. Was your wife at all bummed she didn't get to do any of the planning? She actually planned the wedding without even knowing it. She got to plan her own wedding without the stress of meetings and all. She loved it. Was was your favorite part of the wedding day? What was your wife's? My favorite part of the day was the time we got to spend with our Family and Friends in the morning when my wife first found out we were getting married. I addressed everyone to kind of give them the plan for the day, and we had a time of worship that was incredible. My wife's favorite part of the day was seeing my face when she came down the aisle. I had never seen the dress before that moment. If someone wants to hint at a surprise they'd love (a ring, a trip, etc), do you have any tips for dropping hints? Just dream out loud. It's his job to listen. It may not be YouTube-worthy, but if he listens, it'll mean the world to the girl. I just try to listen.
