Everything You Need To Know About Sunflowers For Your Wedding
27 May 2014 •0 min read
When it comes to choosing your wedding flowers, there's a lot to learn. From colors and care to costs and all sorts of wedding floral design inspiration, we're your "best bud." This week's flower is the sunflower.
Flower name: Sunflower (Scientific name: Helianthus annuus)
Season: Summer
Colors available: Yellow
Care: Fill your vase with cold water and plant food. While running the stem of the sunflower under water, cut it to desired length. Before arranging the sunflowers, make sure to remove any leaves that will fall below the water line.
Fun fact: These cheery and radiant blooms signify loyalty and longevity. Originally used for food and nourishment (the sunflower contains edible seeds and natural oils), the flower has become one of the most popular and cheery blooms.
Average wholesale cost: About $1.75 a stem
Why we love: Sunflowers are playful and lively. Sure to add a burst of color to your wedding day, sunflowers are perfect for centerpieces, bouquets and boutonnières. We love the combination of sunflowers and wildflowers for a rustic look.
