7 Ways to Tell Your Loved Ones You're Engaged

The Save to Loverly button makes it easy to save your dream wedding inspiration and vendors to your planning dashboard.
So, your S.O. popped the question? Congratulations! From throwing a party to changing your Facebook status, there are so many thoughtful ways to tell your friends and family the good news. Here are seven ideas for alerting your loved ones of your engagement.
1. Call your family and close friends.
Picking up the phone might feel a little old school, but it's most personal way to spread the news near and far. Your nearest and dearest will be so excited to hear all about the engagement, and they'll feel oh-so-special that you took the time to call them and let them know. We suggest making those calls before you post on any social media channels.
2. Host a post-proposal party announcing your nuptials.
If you're popping the question, plan a little proposal party! Secretly gather up your guests so that everyone's there to celebrate right after you've gotten down on one knee.
3. Post an announcement on Instagram.
Get clever and snap an announcement photo for Insta. Hold a mug that says "Feyoncé" or post the perfect ring selfie (cute manicure encouraged!).
4. Invite your friends to grab drinks, then spill the secret.
A few days after your engagement, invite palls out for a casual evening and tell them your good news! This is a super easy way to tell all your besties at one time.
5. Have your family over for an intimate dinner and tell them the news.
We think it's sweet to invite your family over for a home-cooked meal and surprise them with your engagement story!
6. Change your relationship status on Facebook.
We suggest doing this after you tell your loved ones the news first! Changing your relationship status to "Engaged" on Facebook is a great way to tell all those old friends you aren't super close with anymore.
 7. Send an email blast with the engagement story, and a photo or two.
While an email isn't super personal, it's a nice way to share your whole engagement story. If you've started to tell close family and friends, but you keep getting requests for photos and the story on how he/she asked, email might be the best way to relay information. Next step, engagement photos!
