Why Having a Matron of Honor is Uh-mazing

Did you know that if your maid of honor is married, she's actually your "matron of honor"? Despite the difference in title, the roles are virtually the same (shower organizing, bachelorette party planning, dress shopping, and, of course, standing beside you on your big day...). But, while both of these ladies are extremely special, there are some serious perks to having a Mrs. by your side. matron_honor_wedding Photo by Elliott Hatherley on Love My Dress via Loverly 1. She has wedding experience. While a maid of honor will certainly offer all of the help and advice that she possibly can, a matron of honor is able to speak from first hand experience. When it comes to wedding planning (and the accompanying stress), she totally gets it because she's been there. She'll be ready with advice should something go awry, all ears when you really want to vent, and seriously supportive when you need someone to lean on. 2. She has marriage experience. The wedding is only the beginning! A matron of honor will have some sound words of wisdom to share when it comes to marriage. Maybe it's the first time you and your S.O. will be living together? Or perhaps you're already butting heads about where you'll spend the holidays after the "I dos"? Your married MOH can talk you through it all. 3. She knows how to deal with in-laws. Where can you turn when your mother-in-law just won't back down about the flowers? Or you're not sure if you need to make your future sister-in-law a bridesmaid? This isn't your matron of honor's first rodeo. She knows how to deal with in-laws because she's got her own. And she can guide you through successfully dealing with yours while still keeping the peace. 4. She's a registry master. Creating a wedding registry can be completely overwhelming. What exactly do you need? What are you forgetting? And what's a total waste? Turn to your matron-of-honor, who has already played the registry game and has a home of her own. She'll be able to tell you what's a major must-have and whether or not she actually ever uses her pasta maker... 5. She gets it. Even the most laid back bride can have a bridezilla moment during the planning process. When it goes down, your bridesmaids may be taken aback, but your good old matron of honor will completely understand where you are coming from – and she'll probably help to calm you down, too! Not every bride has a matron of honor. But, if you are lucky enough to have one, cherish her presence every step of the way. -By Bridget Galbreath Want a chance to be featured on Loverly?
