It’s hard to believe that 2020 is almost halfway over and that we are already in the midst of our all-time favorite season: wedding season. It’s June, and that means we’re all missing weddings just a little bit more than normal as the health situation means we have to wait even longer to gather to celebrate our loved ones (or ourselves). While weddings and any sort of large gatherings are still being pushed back for the foreseeable future, we can always look back at some other weddings that have happened in Junes past for a little inspiration. There’s no better way to daydream of the day-that’s-yet-to-come than by learning more about these celebrities and their June wedding celebrations. Whether it was well-publicized with an A-list crowd or secret and intimate with little to no public photographs, these celeb couples provide plenty of inspiration and brainstorm material for all our weddings in the future. Chris Pratt and Katherine Schwarzenegger Chris Pratt and Katherine Schwarzenegger got married on June 8th of 2019 in Montecito, California. The couple took full advantage of the summer weather by selecting a venue with lots of greenery and flowers, and guests enjoyed a cocktail hour on the lawn with live music after the ceremony. Pratt and Schwarzenegger also chose to do dishes highlighting local food in their menu of light summer dishes. Giorgio Armani provided the designs for both of  Schwarzenegger’s dresses as well as Pratt’s suit, meaning the couple looks incredibly well-matched. We also love the fact that Schwarzenegger’s ceremony dress featured a gorgeous long train, while her reception dress was a bit more form-fitting and included a wristlet to ensure that she was able to dance the night away. Definitely something you want to consider in your own wedding attire options! Zoë Kravitz and Karl Glusman  Zoë Kravitz and Karl Glusman tied the knot in Paris on June 29th of 2019 surrounded by lots of her Big Little Lies co-stars as well as family. While not a lot is known about the details of the ceremony itself, we absolutely love the black and white photos Kravitz shared on her Instagram back in January. Yet another bride who opted for practicality in her style, Kravitz’s ankle-length ballerina dress and kitten-heeled pumps are incredibly classy and show off her tattoos beautifully. She didn’t go without glam, however, as the night before, she wore a custom crochet dress over a white satin bra and cycling shorts to her rehearsal dinner. While not every bride may be comfortable in a look that’s so contemporary, we love the idea of having your rehearsal-dinner look be a little more fun. Remember to celebrate your own personal style, regardless of what anyone else says.  Michael Phelps and Nicole Johnson Okay, we admit: this one is kind of cheating, as Nicole Johnson and Michael Phelps did technically get married in June but all of their photos are from their destination wedding in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico on October 29th of 2016. Their June wedding was only a five-person affair, taking place in the backyard of their home in Arizona. The October wedding, which is pictured here, included 50 of their closest friends and family. That celebration in Mexico included a cocktail hour with tacos and mariachi music (and apparently lots of shots of tequila). While the June event was really just about signing the papers to make it official before Phelps started traveling for the Olympics, we want to recognize the validity and practicality of a two-part wedding. Especially at this moment, where so much is uncertain, don’t feel that you have to wait until the party to actually say your “I do”s. And just as Phelps and Johnson consider their October event their actual “wedding,” you create your own narrative about your love story, regardless of when it actually becomes official. Sophie Turner and Joe JonasYet another couple with a two-part wedding is Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas, who technically got married in May of 2019 in the little white wedding chapel in Vegas (by an Elvis impersonator, no less). However, their official wedding was in the south of France on June 29th after a week-long vacation in Paris with family and friends. Again, we love the idea of a two-part wedding, as it allows you to relax a bit and enjoy the beautiful party without worrying about all of the technicalities and logistics of getting married. For Jonas and Turner, it was about truly celebrating with friends and family rather than actually getting hitched. We also love Jonas’ wedding look in all black to beautifully complement Turner’s gown. The black bow tie adds an element of elegance while truly letting Turner’s look shine. Kerry Washington and Nnamdi Asomugha Kerry Washington and Nnamdi Asomugha got married in a private ceremony at a friend’s house in Idaho in June of 2013. While no photos exist online of the day, we wanted to highlight one aspect that is: her ring. A simple gold band encrusted with diamonds is the star in many of Washington’s Instagram posts, especially when she is showing off a fresh manicure. We feel this is the perfect ring for those of us who might want a little extra sparkle but don’t want to commit to a ring with a larger set stone. Washington doesn’t post a lot of photos with her husband, instead showing off a lot with her Scandal co-star and #workhusband Tony Goldwyn, so we loved this photo of the three of them in a throwback to Met Gala 2015. Kit Harrington and Rose LeslieThe Game of Thrones co-stars got married in Leslie’s native Scotland on June 23rd, 2018. While neither celeb has Instagram, we love this capture from Harper’s Bazaar showing Leslie exiting the car with the help of her father in a traditional Scottish kilt. We love when couples are able to integrate aspects of their family or national heritage into their ceremonies, whether in location, attire, or cuisine, as it truly makes the day feel like it’s part of something bigger than yourself. Besides the ways that Leslie made the wedding feel like her own, we absolutely love the fresh flowers in her hair as an alternative to a metal or embellished headpiece. It gives the entire wedding an incredibly romantic feel, and we love the emphasis on natural beauty.Felicity Jones and Charles Guard Yet another wedding that was kept quiet on social media was that of Felicity Jones and Charles Guard at Sudeley Castle in Gloucestershire, England on June 30th, 2018. However, thanks to Vanity Fair, we got an inside look at the day. Her gown was custom-made by Erdem, and the buttons up the back are absolutely stunning and tie in beautifully with the ruffled collar. Side note: apparently we aren’t alone in thinking this, as Jones told Vanity Fair that the buttons are in fact her favorite part of the attire as well. While not everyone can afford to go custom on the attire, we think this is an excellent example of how to balance a modern and vintage look by working with a designer, and the sheer neckline and sleeves of this dress make it airy enough for summer. Jones also did her own make-up before going down the aisle, a choice we definitely respect for either financial or functional reasons. Meagan Good and DeVon FranklinAll the way back in June of 2012, Meagan Good married DeVon Franklin. Their celebration ran a bit bigger than some of these other celeb weddings, as they were joined in Malibu by 400 guests. The wedding had a theme that called for purple roses, tulips, and lots of rustic gold, which complemented the bride’s R-Mine gown with a purple-dipped train. Something we can especially highlight from the Good and Franklin wedding was released about four years later in their book The Wait: they remained celibate for their entire courtship and consider it a key part of the success of their relationship. By working through their love of each other and keeping God and their faith at the center, Good and Franklin created a strong foundation for their lives together. We hope highlighting this couple in particular will be a message of solidarity for our celibate couples who are excitedly or anxiously waiting for their wedding day, and we wanted to say: if these two can do it, so can you!Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves Another couple that tied the knot in 2012 was Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves, who got married at a private home on June 9th. The couple is especially open about saying that they actually weren’t always sure marriage was in the cards for them personally and it was a decision that they grew into together. While there are few to no photographs of the actual event online, there are lots of photos of the McConaughey family: Matthew, Camila, and their three kids: Levi, Vida, and Livingston. Levi and Vida, ages 4 and 2 at the times, were actually involved in the wedding, serving as the ring bearer and flower girl. We love the fact that this wedding was a true family affair and that McConaughey and Alves felt comfortable waiting until the time was right for them. So whether it’s children from a previous marriage or with your current partner, think about ways to get them involved to celebrate with you and make the day about creating a family, not just a partnership. Keegan Michael Key and Elise Pugliese Our last June wedding couple that we want to highlight is Keegan Michael Key and Elise Pugliese, who got married in New York City on June 8th, 2018. The couple held a small, intimate ceremony at their home and used the natural backdrop of the city and its streets to capture beautiful photos. We love the fact that this ceremony was with friends and family in their home as they started their married life together. What’s more, Pugliese wore a beautiful sheath Prada gown that fell just below the knee. This wedding epitomizes finding ways to celebrate with only the added frills that you feel are important. It’s all about how you want to celebrate, and every couple is different and shouldn’t feel compelled to spend more money or time planning than they want to. At the end of the day, it’s about you and the person you love, and that will always be enough.
