16 Jun 2020 •5 min read
Whether you're looking for a Friday-night-in activity this weekend or you're planning a slumber party style party for some pre-wedding celebrating, these movies are the perfect fit! If you're already married, they'll make you want to walk down the aisle all over again. Or, if you're not hitched yet, they'll have you chomping at the bridal bid just to have as much fun as these characters!
It's time to review the top 10 wedding movies. So get the popcorn in the microwave, put your coziest PJs on, and press play!

via GIPHY Okay, we get it. This movie is a super problematic depiction of masculinity... But also we're just going to take our feminist hats off for this one and have a good time! Sometimes, it must be done. This is almost more bromance than romance, but the sheer number of weddings featured in this movie make it a must-have for our list! Also, we're kinda, super into Isla Fisher being a total freak and Vince Vaughn being totally into it? Not gonna yuck their yum...
Do y'all know that The Sandman is having a major moment right now? So let's revisit one of his all-time classics! Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore are a match made in heaven (see also: 50 First Dates), and we can't help but fall in love with them! This movie has it all: mismatched would-be lovers, Billy Idol (for some reason?), and, our favorite thing, wedding planning!

via GIPHY This movie is a classic for a reason! For one thing, it's a remake of a remake, so you know the story holds up. For another, Steve Martin is so frustrating but also so sweet all throughout! Of course, he makes some big (and hilarious) mistakes in this film, but you know it's all because of how much he loves his daughter. Send this one out to the dads who are going to have trouble letting go of their "little girls." It's a lesson in love!

via GIPHY Let's be honest, the most common denominator between all of your bridesmaids is usually their mutual connection to you (the bride). As the maid-of-honor, Annie's life is a wreck and she has to organize the bridesmaids (cynical Rita, perfect Helen, cheerful Becca, and vulgar Megan) to coordinate the best event for the bride and her BFF, Lillian. This movie about eccentric characters with crazy, quirky differences is perfect for a girl's night in. This movie reminds us of how much we owe to our bridesmaids for all those dysfunctional memories and infinite support! We wouldn't be where we are today without them. We're obsessed with the kooky fun adventures of these six gals.
Okay, so you've been planning your wedding with your best friend for life, and now it's the big day. The least of your worries should be a petty rivalry with your best friend. Liv and Emma struggle with one-upping each other as they both refuse to change their wedding dates. We've heard of the bridezilla, but this movie is a one-on-one battle between two of the biggest bridezillas to ever get married. Bride Wars really is a matrimonial battle royale.
As much as we think weddings revolve around two people in love who want to share their lives together, in a certain respect it's also totally not. Often times it's about two very different families merging into one. And that means the whole family. With developments between Ian and Toula heating up, the vibrant Greek culture of the Portokalos family pose a stark contrast to Ian's plain and orderly American family. The cultural and heritage characteristics seem completely foreign to Ian and his family, and this sets the scene of a hilarious comedy. As we learned from Papa Gus, nothing some Windex can't fix.
Muriel is a socially awkward single woman who spends her days listening to ABBA nonstop and dreaming of the big gorgeous wedding in her future... Can anyone else relate? This one isn't exactly a romcom, but it definitely has all the makings of one! Really it's a romance between two women who are absolutely, undoubtedly meant to be BFFs! Even though one of them keeps mucking it up with a bunch of mistakes and crazy wedding-related schemes. Get it together, Muriel!
Isn't this the most romantic not-proposal you've ever seen? It would have been rom-com sacrilege to not put this movie on our list! It's inclusive (featuring a deaf man and a gay couple), showcases multiple weddings in one film (four, duh) and it is just so, so sweet. Also, it heavily showcases the King of the British rom-com himself, Hugh Grant. He is at his most charmingly awkward in this movie! If you want something that will make you laugh, cry, and hold onto your loved ones tighter, then this is the movie for you!
